David Lynch Foundation
Offers Education for Enlightenment

“In today’s world of fear and uncertainty, every child should have one class period a day to dive within himself and experience the field of silence—bliss—the enormous reservoir of energy and intelligence that is deep within all of us. This is the way to save the coming generation.” These words from the greatest educator and scientist of consciousness, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, simply and beautifully describe the urgent need in education today. David Lynch, Filmmaker (see “Message from David Lynch”, below.)

Special Weekend for Those Interested
in the David Lynch Foundation

The David Lynch Foundation and Maharishi University of Management have announced a special “Taste of Enlightenment” weekend for everyone who is interested in learning more about Consciousness-Based education, as well as those who would like to find out more about the David Lynch Foundation and the opportunities available for playing a role in contributing to its success. The conference WAS March 23–26, in Fairfield, Iowa. (see “Special Weekend” below.)

The David Lynch Foundation, was recently established to help address the rising epidemic of stress amongst students by making the Transcendental Meditation® program available to students throughout the US—especially those who are in need of financial assistance. The DL Foundation has been enormously successful and several new programs in high schools and colleges have begun across the country, with hundreds of students now enjoying the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation program. Many students who would have otherwise been unable to learn the Transcendental Meditation technique at this time, are reporting a newfound experience of the growth of consciousness and much needed relief from the growing stress in their lives.

Details on the Special Weekend with David Lynch and Dr. John Hagelin— WAS March 23-26, Fairfield, Iowa.

The weekend will focus on deep experience of the Self—transcendental, bliss consciousness—and knowledge of higher states of consciousness and will include selected videos of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. There will also be sessions with film director David Lynch and world-renowned quantum physicist and scientist of consciousness, Dr. John Hagelin.

You’ll have the opportunity to have your meditation checked for correct practice, you’ll enjoy Maharishi Vedic OrganicSM cuisine, a relaxing Maharishi Vedic Health SpaSM treatment, and can even have your brain waves mapped so you can see the effects of growing coherence in your brain functioning as a result of your transcending in meditation.

There will be special presentations on Maharishi University of Management and Consciousness-BasedSM education for students the same weekend, so you are welcome to bring your student age children with you.

You will be responsible for transportation only. The University will cover the costs of lodging in comfortable accommodations, meals and the course.

This is a no strings attached offer and you’re not going to be asked for anything. There couldn’t be a better gift to give yourself and your family than this weekend and I encourage you to reserve the dates on your calendar. We hope you will join David and Dr. Hagelin for this very special “Taste of Enlightenment” weekend.

New Study: Transcendental Meditation technique reduces stress in the workplaces; Increases focuses, clarity, energy for entire management team

A study of stress in the workplace highlighted research on the effects of the Transcendental Meditation technique on corporate managers. Conducted by the University of Stockholm’s Department of Business Administration, the study found that managers who practiced the Transcendental Meditation program displayed increased energy and alertness, more holistic thinking, and better decision-making capabilities.

The study, conducted in 1990, followed two teams of top business managers. They examined the short-term effects on both teams over a course of four to seven months, and also continued to observe the long-term effects on one team for two to three years.

According to the article, the study found that the increased focus, clarity, and energy of those practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique affected the entire management team, even those not practicing the technique. The group as a whole became more dynamic, able to take on greater demands and rise to new levels of leadership.

They also found improved relations among members of the management teams. These improvements in the quality of relationships extended outside the workplace and benefited family relations as well.

The article reported that: ‘Corporate stress management is a key issue these days. NASA, IBM, Nokia, Stanford, or the US Army abroad or Infosys, Wipro, and most of the big companies in India are providing corporate stress management training through meditation and other means to keep the managers and other employees productive, to help them become successful leaders, and attain self-mastery, focus, and ability to work effectively with others.’

New Study Shows Transcendental Meditation Program Lengthens Life Span

A research study published in the American Journal of Cardiology has shown that the practice of the Transcendental Meditation program leads to improved health in many categories, including reduction of high blood pressure, and leads to increased lifespan.

The study, demonstrating that the practice of the Transcendental Meditation program reduced the death rate among the elderly and promoted longevity, was based on the health statistics over an 18-year period of a group of 203 individuals with high blood pressure, who had an average age of 71 years.

Some participants were taught the Transcendental Meditation program; those in the control group were taught different modalities such as muscle relaxation or behavioral programs.

According to the article: ‘The Transcendental Meditation group had a 23 per cent reduction in death from all causes, a 30 per cent reduction in deaths from cardiovascular diseases, and a 49 per cent reduction in the death rate from cancer.’

It was deduced that the practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique, which reduces risk factors for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, and hardening of the arteries, can lead to a longer and healthier life for individuals.
